Often racecourses have personnel that receive horse handler’s training but it can also be for individuals or organisations who would have such a requirements. The training is delivered at the College.
This one-day course comprises:

- Introduction and Welcome
- The horse: a fight or flight animal
- The horse’s vision
- Recognising horse behaviour
- Catching a loose horse

12:00 Horse Awareness Part 2
- Horses in the Parade ring
- The theory of approaching horses
- The theory of catching the loose horse
- How to assist the Racehorse in difficulty
13:00 Lunch
13:30 Horse Handling Practical
To include:
- Approaching the Horse
- Making and fitting a rope halter
- Tying up horses
- Safely Leading Horses
- Unsaddling a horse
- Legging up a Jockey
15:00 Catching a loose horse (Indoor School)
- Question and Answer

The minimum number of applicants to run the course is 6 and no previous horse experience is necessary.
