“I’m being paid to do my hobby”, is how Leanne describes her job at Jedd O’Keeffe Racing.
Leanne is being incredibly modest for she has devoted more than 20 years of her life to the horseracing industry and what she does is so much more than a job. Leanne’s role is all encompassing; every working day she rolls her sleeves up and gets stuck into all that is required to ensure the 60-horse yard runs smoothly and the horses are fit and healthy. In addition you’ll find her astride several horses every morning putting them through their paces on the gallops. And around what is already a very demanding role she nurtures and develops younger members of the team, an aspect of her position she is hugely passionate about.
In this interview Leanne shares with us how she is feeling about being a finalist in the Stud and Stable Staff Awards 2020. This evening (Monday 24 February) the awards will be in full swing and at the end of the evening there will be six category winners and an overall Employee of the Year.
We will bring you all the action from the night on our social channels so please stay tuned on Monday (24 February) evening.
