A dream come true for 14-16 Year Old Programme Graduate Jack Doughty

Friday 22nd December 2023 was a day to remember for sixteen year old Jack Doughty, as not only did he have his first ride as an Apprentice Jockey onboard Fieldsman at Southwell Racecourse for his employer Tony Carroll, but it turned out to be a dream day as he achieved his first winner.
Jack successfully completed the 14-16 Year Old Programme in the workplace and was keen to begin the Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship, which he is now working towards achieving. He was also granted his Apprentice Jockey Licence in November 2023 following an intense two week course at the National Horseracing College. To gain valuable experience and knowledge, Jack has been part of the team and ridden out for Henry Oliver Racing Ltd and at Tony Carroll Racing in Worcester, which is where he is now based.
From the age of 12, Jack has enjoyed the thrill of Pony Racing, even winning a few races, with his own pony that he trained and dedicated himself to. Pony Racing is a fantastic way for young people to experience the thrill of racing and to understand racing etiquette.
