Part-Time Roving Tutor

The National Horseracing College seeks to employ a Roving Tutor to join its enthusiastic, vibrant, and hardworking team.

Applicants to be based in the North of England. 

As one of only two specialist horseracing colleges in the UK, this independent training provider delivers training for people in both racing and other equine industries.  Located in the scenic grounds of a private estate near Doncaster, it achieved Ofsted Grade 2 in 2022.

A Roving Tutor plays a vital role in assisting learners to achieve an Apprenticeship. Roving Tutors have a cohort of leaners that they are responsible for. The role includes visiting learners on yards on a regular basis and providing coaching, portfolio support, pastoral advice and guidance and functional skills support.

IT skills are required to document the learners progress and ensure that the NHC complies with funding requirements. The role is varied and exciting and combines working from home and working in the yards. The working hours are flexible with the requirement of some early starts and late finishes. Training and support are given to Roving Tutors to enable to them to support the learners, mentors and employers.

To be selected for this interesting, challenging role you must hold a Level 3 Diploma in Racehorse Care and Management or equivalent, a teaching qualification i.e. Certificate of Education or be prepared to work towards and achieve this.  A coaching qualification, or be prepared to work towards and achieve this, you must hold a driving licence, have relevant ICT experience and be able to evidence your continuous professional development.

Hours of Work

24 per week, which includes a ½ hour unpaid meal break each day.

Salary

The salary is £17,447.04 per annum with a contributory pension scheme, an initial holiday entitlement of pro-rata 25 days, plus Bank Holidays, Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), and Life Assurance (2 x salary).

A laptop, mobile phone and NHC branded clothing will be provided.

The selected applicant will be required to apply for an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
