While At The NHC
George was a learner at the National Horseracing College in 2008. Mrs Goodfellow (previous CEO of the NHC) took him all over the world in apprentice jockey challenges when he was a claiming apprentice. George feels that The National Horseracing College has always been there for him, and in return he has come down a few when he could and spoke to the new students.
After Graduation
After obtaining his level 1 qualification, the NHC placed him at the late Malcolm Jefferson’s yard in Malton. Malcolm sent him riding work at Richard Fahey’s twice a week where he served all his level 2 apprenticeship and was still able to ride regularly. George says that having the skills to ride racehorses has taken him all over the world and on big stages, including his biggest achievement at Royal Ascot where he won the Wokingham Stakes, the following weekend he won the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle.
