Dave had no experience around horses prior to attending the National Horseracing College, in fact, his ambition was to become a mechanic as he enjoyed the fast and furious lifestyle of being on a motorbike, which isn’t a far cry from galloping a racehorse!
It took Dave a few weeks to get into the routine at the NHC and to settle into riding a racehorse, but once it clicked he never looked back. In his career as a professional jockey, Dave has ridden nearly 1,400 winners, both in Britain and internationally. He has also achieved success in multiple group races, achieved a Royal Ascot winner and even broke the record for the most successful international jockey to ever ride in India, against colleagues such as Richard Hughes, Kieran Fallon, Sylvester Da Sousa and James Doyle.
Dave has also ridden 34 Classic winners in India; winning the Indian Derby 3 times, the Calcutta Derby 2 times and an Invitation Cup.
