Charlie Deutsch

Charlie is a professional National Hunt jockey based with racehorse trainer Venetia Williams, where he stands as her stable jockey. Charlie’s father trained and rode point-to-point horses and Charlie grew up hunting and competed in Pony Racing and spent three seasons with racehorse trainer Charlie Longsdon. Charlie rode in his first point-to-point race when he was 16 years old and enjoyed many successes alongside his father, John.

• His first ride was in July 2013 at Market Rasen Racecourse
• First win was in September 2013 at Market Rasen Racecourse onboard Long Lunch
• Has ridden 216 winners (to date: March 2022).
• Won his first Grade 2, the Paddy Power Novices’ Chase at Cheltenham, 1st January 2022 onboard L’Homme Presse
• Won his first Grade 1, a Novices’ Chase at Sandown, 5th February 2022 onboard ‘Homme Presse
• Won the 2021 Grade 3 Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury onboard Cloudy Glen
• His first Cheltenham Festival winner, Grade 1 Novices’ Chase in 2022 onboard L’Homme Presse
