Roving Tutor /Racing Staff Development Programme Lead
Joined NHC 2012
After being involved with horses since the age of 4, Sam set her sites on attending Bishop Burton College where she furthered her studies in Equine Business Management.
Shortly after this she attended the college conversion course at the NHC.
On graduation Sam worked for NH trainer Micky Hammond gaining her Level 3 in Racehorse Care and Management before making her move to Johnston Racing to be Assistant Manager.
In 2012 Sam joined the NHC team as a Roving Tutor in the North during this time Sam became passionate about taking training to those out in the workplace and supporting trainers with horsemanship and rider training events. This initial pilot led to what is now the Racing Staff Development Programme of which she is the Lead Coordinator alongside tutoring her apprenticeship students.
Outside of work Sam’s husband is a racing groom who has completed 23 years at Johnston Racing and her young daughter is pony mad and enjoys stealing her mums horse rather than her own!
