Engagement Assistant
Emma joined the National Horseracing College in October 2024. Before joining the College, Emma spent her entire working life in the horseracing industry, including for the last four seasons as Pupil Assistant and Head Groom for Yorkshire trainer, Tim Easterby, where she had responsibility for 85 horses.
Emma rode successfully as an Amateur Jockey for over 10 years, riding 27 winners under the Rule of Racing (Flat and Jumps) with further successes on the Point-to-Point circuit. In 2014/15 she was crowned Yorkshire Women’s Point-to-Point Champion, having been Novice Champion in the area the previous year. She also represented Great Britain overseas in Amateur Rider Races. Emma remains a Point-to-Point Course Inspector.
The highlight of Emma’s riding career was partnering Shimla Dawn in the 2019 Aintree Foxhunters’ Chase where they successfully negotiated the world-famous Becher’s Brook, Canal Turn and Valentine’s. Emma and Shimla Dawn, or Marvin as he is affectionately known, both retired from racing in 2020 and now enjoy competing in team chases, local events and Retraining of Racehorse competitions.
Emma is keen to share her enthusiasm and experience with others.
